Default TICKET REVOLT - THE FANS STRIKE BACK!

Yes I did manage to get a ticket for Radiohead, this is not about a bitter person taking out their anger on somebody, this about live music and saving it before it's destroyed by ticket touts on ebay.

The tickets (as we all know) sold out in minutes, then you take a look at ebay and see 15 pages full of radiohead tickets for sale at extortionate prices. It would be interesting to see the percentage of tickets that were sold JUST so they could be put on ebay.

Eventually, ALL concert tickets will be bought by touts and no-one will be able to go to a live show without paying upwards of £100 for a ticket.

Even though what these people are doing is illegal, ebay dont police it because they take a percentage from every sale that happens on their website, so in actualy fact they probably support the touts and look at them as a good thing.

THIS NEEDS TO STOP, SOMEONE HAS TO DO SOMETHING!

Me and a small group of vigilante associates are taking the following (necessary) actions to try and start the ball rolling, and make someone sit up and find a way to stop this from happening and to save live music.

We are signing up with lots of different ebay accounts, entering false information and then buying all the tickets by either putting in extortionate bids, or buy pressing the "buy-it-now" option which ends the auction immediately.

What would be even better is to do it the day before the gig, so that the touts can't re-auction the tickets.

THEY CAN'T FORCE YOU TO PAY THEM WHEN YOU WIN THE AUCTION BECAUSE WHAT THEY ARE DOING IS ILLEGAL AND IS IN BREACH OF BOTH THE TICKET SALE AND THEIR EBAY CONTRACT.

If the touts get screwed over, they might start thinking twice about selling tickets (and their souls) and it means us real music fans can go see our favourite bands for a much more reasonable price.

WE INVITE AND ENCOURAGE YOU TO JOIN US. IF YOU CALL YOURSELF A MUSIC FAN THEN YOU SHOULD FEEL THE NEED TO HELP MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

If everyone just sabotaged one auction we'd get rid of them all. The attendance at some of the shows might be a little less than it should be, but we may just secure ourselves a future for live music.

We hope you care enough to contribute.

Happy Sabotaging!

Why not write to your MP asking for a change in law so that ticket touts can actually be policed and stopped from practising a business which really should be far from legit.

That was quick.
I guess that is going to be their new logo, then. I quite like it.

Incidentally, you might want to make sure that there aren't any ticket numbers people could take from that picture.

the way this was made, it really sounds like whoever posted this is a member of radiohead or someone associated with them

whoever did this, radiohead member or not, i respect for making this thread as this is an important issue that needs to be dealt with

"THEY CAN'T FORCE YOU TO PAY THEM WHEN YOU WIN THE AUCTION BECAUSE WHAT THEY ARE DOING IS ILLEGAL AND IS IN BREACH OF BOTH THE TICKET SALE AND THEIR EBAY CONTRACT."

Really? Or are you just guessing? If it were a breach of ebay contract wouldn't they be forced to remove the offending items?

I'm all for fucking over touts but doing it via fraud makes you just as bad as them :] I doubt you are protected legally either, you prolly want to make sure you do it through proxy servers to avoid getting court summons :]

If, however, you are right and there is nothing they can do about it, then I'd be happy to help you out with your cause. It'd be fun!

Oh, yeh that would be great. It would means ultimately that only rich people could enjoy music... so only rich people would enjoy music... gradually taking away the input of those who actually have stuff to sing about, cutting of 95% of young, relatively poor people who want to make music, making music stale, boring and pointless, and eventually destroying music forever. Yeh, lets do that.

What a load of bollocks. I'm not rich and I got a ticket when they went on sale this morning. Sure, not everyone can do that, and the touts reduce the number of people who manage to, but there are people willing to pay, say, £250 for a pair on eBay. By fucking up the auctions on which these people are bid, you are preventing them from getting tickets, just like the touts.

Aside from that, there are major flaws in Ticket Vigilante's little scheme. For a start, selling tickets is not in breach of one's eBay contract; winning an item and failing to pay, however, is...
